The "Wow!" factor is working at the
West Valley Family Fitness & Wellness Center in West Valley
City. Opened on October 1, 1999, the Center attracted over 15,000
people the first three days. Demographics guided the development
of the facility, which is situated in a 77 acre Sports Complex.
Over 40,000 of the 100,000 community residents are teens or younger.
The Sports Management Group analyzed demographics, created programming,
and developed operating budgets, expense and revenue projections,
fee schedules, and financing structures.
Guided by the "Wow!" criteria, The
Sports Management Group created five alternative interior schematic
designs. The facility features imaginative play areas for pre-schoolers
through eleven-year-olds and a natatorium with zero-depth entry
and water play structures. There are 3600 square feet of community
rooms that can be rented for parties and meetings. A glass-enclosed
track that extends beyond the gym and a glass-sided turret above
the climbing wall's summit offer expansive views of the surrounding
Utah landscape.
