Some dreams are nurtured for a long time before they become a reality. At Miami University, a concept for a recreation center with a list of desired spaces had been in review for nearly 15 years when they finally embarked on a process to develop a detailed program of requirements for the facility. Principals from The Sports Management Group propelled the programming and design along and saw the project through to completion. The Recreational Sports Center, effectively woven into the campus fabric through a design that respects its Georgian architectural heritage, is efficiently organized around a concourse circulation spine and hub concept. The Sports Management Group provided operational planning and marketing consulting services which included developing a detailed Employee Policies and Procedures manual, Staffing Requirements, Security Planning, and marketing brochure design. The Director of the Center says the vision has become "an enormously successful reality" that today serves the students, faculty, and staff of the University as well as the community of Oxford with a multitude of opportunities for enjoying recreational activities and socializing on campus.
