Getting a recreation facility up and running takes focused imagination. At Kent State University, the details of operating the new Student Recreation and Wellness Center were carefully considered with as much attention as given the bricks and mortar. Working closely with Recreational Sports and Intramural Department staff, Facilities Planning staff and architects, The Sports Management Group assisted in planning and the development for operational and functional efficiency of the Center, which opened in the of Spring 1999. Documents were generated to guide the Recreational Sports and Intramural Department with Budget Planning, Equipment Specifications, and Computer Supported Management/Access System. The needs for Staff Planning and Training, as well as Policies and Procedures Development, were anticipated and documented. The Sports Management Group also contributed expertise in strategic planning activities including Operational and Management Forms, Maintenance Program and Manual, and Marketing Campaign and Print Materials to help ensure that the Center's programs will run smoothly and attract the constituency for which it was designed.
